Despite the groundbreaking ceremony in 2011, excavation and stadium construction only began in November 2012. The stadium was completed on 28 February 2015, with the official opening on 6 March 2015.
The total layout is 617,000 m² with capacity for 68,000 spectators across six floors. Stadium settlement area is 87,000 m², total indoor area is 215,000 m², with a maximum height of 60 m. All indoor and outdoor heating and cooling systems were designed, supplied and commissioned in partnership with Polimeks.
